How To Fix The Backlight Of Your LCD Monitor


Fixing the backlight of your laptop is a very delicate job.  You need to know what you are doing because the back light is located in the LCD screen. Even experienced technicians have suffered hair-raising days with this exercise. The slightest slip up and your LCD is history. And  Of course you will have to get a new one.  To avoid having that calamity, here is how to fix the backlight of your LCD monitor.

Remove The Laptop Battery

  Flip the laptop and remove the battery from its case. Next open the laptop to view the screen. After opening the laptop , remove the front bezel by taking off the rubber stoppers around the LCD screw and then remove the screws under the rubber stoppersNow Remove the screws holding the front bezel and then take the bezel off. After removing the bezel screws,  go ahead and remove screws holding the LCD screen and gently pull away the screen, disconnecting any cabling. Then disconnect the LCD from its casing, and remove the sticky tape.

Remove the Circuit Board

Gently remove the circuit board. But please, please, Try as much as possible not to bend the board or you will have to get a new one.  You can get a new circuit board at CompUSA.com ,   You then remove the screen's metal frame  by unlocking the LCD screen's latches with a small screw driver. After setting aside the LCD screen, its metal frame, and circuit board,look for the transparent layers inside the screen base an remove them from there. But leave them intact. Next remove the metal cover from the back light. Then unattach the cables from their hooks.

Now here comes the most challenging step:Remove the backyard lamp and the reflector.... The trick here is you need to remove them as one unit and then separate them. Then access the backlight lamp from the separated backlight lamp. Now remove the rubber caps and insulator,  And then use  Soldering Iron to unsolder the cables from the damaged backlight . After soldering the cables,  solder the new LCD backlight   to the cables.  Now reassemble the LCD screen. Simply do the reverse of the previous disassembly. As you reassemble the LCD screen, use compressed air to blow out any dust you find in any of the parts.
