Time To Replace The Hard Disk

After  trying to troubleshoot and fix your crashed hard disk and not getting anywhere, you come to the sad conclusion, "It may be time to change the hard disk."  You change the hard disk when the hard disk is damaged or non-responsive, or if you want to replace your hard disk for for something bigger and faster. Let's now get into how to replace the hard disk

Tools Needed For This Exercise

  • Screwdriver
  • Replacement laptop hard disk

Onward to the exercise

Turn Laptop Off
Turn your laptop off and unplug any cables attached to the laptopNext flip the laptop upside down on a flat surface and remove the laptop battery..    Then  use the screw to unscrew the screw next to the compartment holding the laptop battery.  Once you've unscrewed the screw, you then lift the panel to get ready to remove the damaged hard drive.

Remove The Old Laptop Hard Drive
Remove the old laptop   and its cage at the same time.  While removing the old laptop drive, disconnect the  data and power cables connected to the laptop.

Remove Hard Drive From Cage
Remove the old hard disk  from its cage and slot the new laptop hard disk into the cage enclosure. You now connect the data and power cables to the new laptop and then slide it back into position.  Next screw tightly the panel covering the hard disk , and plug in the laptop chords and slot the laptop's battery back.
